Currently, we are running two parallel sites. The original site uses AIFF sound files. The newer, enhanced site delivers clips via RealAudio®.

Traditional digital audio files by their very nature are large. Even short analog sound clips like the ones presented on this page can grow very large, very quickly. RealAudio, on the other hand, "streams" the sound to you as you listen elinating long download times.

Your connection speed and the speed of the processor in your computer will determine how long it takes for you to download each file that you request or the quality of the RealAudio stream that you receive.

AIFF is a file structure designed to be playable on most computer systems. These files have been thoroughly tested in the Macintosh environment and they work well using both Netscape and Explorer. Limited testing in the Windows environment indicates they are also compatible with such systems.

Keep in mind that most of these recordings were made from an AM radio signal on inexpensive recording equipment that is now more than 30 years old. All things considered, the tapes have held up fairly well over the years!
